Introduction to Red Bull

Red Bull is usually consumed as an energy drink. According to Statista, more than 50% of UK consumers drink Red Bull as an energy drink, and more than 54% are fond of this brand. It contains around 30 mg of caffeine. The caffeine content is about 10 mg less than Coffee.

What are the benefits of consuming Red Bull?

1) The slogan of Red Bull itself says, "Red Bull gives you wings." It’s implied that it’s considered a wake-up beverage that can instantly wake you up by giving you wings. Also, it's a ready-to-consume drink as it doesn’t require any brewing. It can be your go-to option when you have to pull an all-nighter. In addition, it’s loaded with vitamins.

2) The caffeine content and other ingredients in Red Bull enhance physical and mental performance. The drink helps you to focus better and remain alert.

3) Red Bull has more water content, which comprises potassium and sodium electrolytes that are best to keep your body hydrated. However, once its effect goes away, you may feel dehydrated again.

What are the detriments of consuming Red Bull?

1) If you consume Red Bull right before dozing off, the odds are high that you may stay awake, as it causes insomnia and stays in your system for around 8–9 hours.

2) The caffeine in Red Bull can also cause anxiety. If you frequently experience stress or anxiety, this may not be your go-to drink.

3) The carbonation in Red Bull can cause excessive bloating, an irritable stomach, and gas. If your digestion isn’t good, avoid grabbing this drink!

Coffee is another highly consumed beverage prepared by passing hot water through the Coffee beans. According to Statista, consumers in the UK drink around 2 cups of coffee daily due to the high caffeine content. The caffeine content in coffee is about 40 mg, which is higher than Red Bull. As with any popular beverage, coffee has its own set of trends that shape how it's enjoyed and consumed, contributing to the ever-evolving landscape of coffee trends.

What are the benefits of consuming Coffee?

1) Moderate Coffee consumption can be great for staying focused and alert. Generally, people consume Coffee when they’re doing work that requires high focus and remaining vigilant.

2) Potassium and Magnesium are present in Coffee. It facilitates the use of insulin and regulates the blood sugar level in the body.

3) Antioxidants are substances known to protect and fight free radicals in the body. Coffee has high levels of antioxidants that can be beneficial for your body.

What are the detriments of consuming Coffee?

1) High Coffee consumption can lead to irritability and anxiety. It may also cause a spike in blood pressure and disrupt sleep.

2) Consuming at a moderate level may not pose a severe health risk. However, consuming it frequently can cause gut irritation and aggravate irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS.

3) Often, the severe effects of Coffee are overlooked. According to the National Library of Medicine, regular Coffee drinkers may be at higher risk of fractures due to excessive caffeine, as it can accelerate the flushing of calcium out of the body.
