Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. It has an estimated population of around 300,000 people. The name Belfast comes from Irish Béal Feirste, which means "mouth of the sandbanks”. It is a member of the Russell Group, which is an association of the 20 leading research universities in the UK. The university has 25,231 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Queen University Belfast is a top 30 university in the UK and is ranked 182nd in the world university rankings.
