The city of Chelmsford is located in the county town of Essex in the east of England. The city is located around 32 miles northeast of London and 22 miles from Colchester. Chelmsford city has an approximate population of 172,000 residents. Chelmsford was granted city status only recently on 1st June 2012. The unemployment rate for Chelmsford currently stands at just over 5%. This is dramatically lower in comparison to the national average unemployment rate which currently stands at 7.6%. The Anglia Ruskin University has one of its three campuses in Chelmsford and has a combined student enrolment rate of approximately 35,000 students. The university has faculties in three departments including Science & Technology, Arts, Law & Social Sciences and Health, Social Care & Education. Chelmsford is also home to the King Edward VI Grammar School which is exclusively male from years 7 to 11 but becomes mixed in the sixth form years of 12 and 13. The school teaches the ages from 11 all the way up to 18.
