Wolverhampton is a city in the West Midlands. Wolverhampton has around 350,000 inhabitants. Wolverhampton is a major industrial city producing steel, locks, motorcycles and cars. Wolverhampton is home to many educational facilities including the University of Wolverhampton. The main campus of the university is located in Wolverhampton City Centre. The University of Wolverhampton has roots dating back to 1851 but officially gained university status in 1992. Wolverhampton University originally began as a free library which developed scientific, technical, commercial and general evening classes. Wolverhampton is also home to Wolverhampton Grammar School which was established in 1512, making it one of the oldest schools in the UK. The school currently houses around 730 students with ages ranging from 7-18. Some of the schools notable alumni include; Baron King of Lothbury (Mervyn King) who was the governor of the Bank of England and John Abernethy who was an English surgeon and founder of St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School.
