Suva is the capital city of Fiji, it is the second most populated place with in the country, behind Nasinu. It has an estimated population of around 88,000 people.
The unemployment rate in Fiji went down between 2012 and 2013 from 8.5 percent to 8.1 percent of the total labour work force. Between 1982 and 2013 the average unemployment rate was 7.15. The country experienced a record low unemployment rate in 2005 when it reached 4.6 percent.
Suva is the home of one of the four campuses of the Fiji Institute of Technology which was founded in 1963. There are around 20,000 pupils studying at the university for professional, technical and academic courses at certificate, diploma, advanced diploma and degree level qualifications.
