Iowa City has a population over 74,000 making it the fifth largest city in the state of Iowa. It is known as the city of Literature and the home to the University of Iowa. The University holds the Writers’ Workshop and boasts one of the best programmes in creative writing.
Iowa City has been named the second best area in the United States for small businesses and has also been ranked 10th out of 50 smartest places to live. Tourist destinations include the Old Capitol building, Nile Kinnick Stadium and Devonian Fossil Gorge. The most dominant business sectors include healthcare and education thanks to Iowa City being the home to several universities which specialise in these competencies such as Carver College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry.
