Miami is known as the ‘Cruise Capital of the World’ because it’s situated on Florida’s East Coast. It also has the nickname ‘the Capital of Latin America’ as Latinos represent over half of the 440,000 strong population.
Miami is a major leader for finance, commerce, international trade and entertainment and media which could explain why it was ranked as the richest city in America. Miami is home to the Florida Grand Opera and Perez Art Museum and located very close to the Everglades. Miami Beach is renowned for its long stretch of sand which is a hot spot for tourists. Other top tourist destinations include the Miami Art Museum (MAM), the Miami Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and the Vizcaya Museum and gardens. There are many universities in and around the Miami including Barry University, Johnson and Wales University and Carlos Albizu University.
