San Diego is the eighth-largest city in the United States with an estimated population of over 1.3 million. San Diego has been named ‘the birthplace of California’ as it is known to be the first city where Europeans (mainly Spaniards) settled. The city is famous for its guaranteed mild climate and its vast beaches.
San Diego’s dominant economic sectors include international trade, tourism and manufacturing inside and outside of the military. The city boasts some excellent educational facilities that specialise in biotechnology - these studies mainly take place in the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) along with the UCSD Medical Center. There are other Universities in San Diego such as; San Diego State University, University of San Diego, Ashford University and the National University. Some of San Diego’s most famous landmarks include Balboa Park which is a Zoo as well as 17 museums including USS Midway Museum and Mount Soledad.
