Denver is the capital of the American state of Colorado and located in the South Platte River Valley in between the Rocky Mountains and the High Plains. With a population of just under 700,000 and Denver is nicknamed the ‘mile high city’ because it is more or less 1 mile above sea level.
Because of Denver’s location there are a lot of mining and energy companies based here. As it is located in the mountain time zone, many telecommunication businesses are also set up in Denver as they can communicate with; North America, South America, Asia and Europe in the same business day.
Some iconic places in Denver include Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the Denver Art Museum which is the second largest performing arts centre in the nation. Sport plays a big part of Denver’s make up with professional sports teams across 8 different sports. There are a few higher education facilities including; a campus for the University of Colorado, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Community College of Denver.
